What to expect
This is often the easiest way into support, and that matters more than it sounds. Accepting help with the laundry is a much smaller step than accepting personal care, and once someone trusts the person coming through the door the next conversation gets easier.
It is help with a household, not an inspection of one. We work to how you keep your home, not to a standard someone else set, and we would rather do a job the way you have always done it than tidy it into something you do not recognise.
Where we can do a task alongside you rather than instead of you, we will. Keeping a hand in is usually worth more than getting it done faster.
Questions people ask
- Is this the same as a cleaning service?
- No. A cleaner works to a list; this is support that includes household work, delivered by someone trained in care who is also keeping an eye on how you are doing.
- Can it be combined with personal care?
- Yes, and most households end up with a mix. It is the same visit and usually the same worker.
- Do I have to be in while you work?
- Entirely your choice. Some people want the company and some want the afternoon back.
