ABCare Healthcare is a care provider in Halifax. We support adults through the Nova Scotia Disability Support Program, provide home care for families, and supply care staff to facilities that need them.

Who we are
ABCare Healthcare Inc. works out of an office on the Bedford Highway in Halifax. We hold a contract with the Province of Nova Scotia to deliver services under the Disability Support Program, we provide private home care to families, and we supply qualified care staff to facilities.
Most people meet us through one of those three and never need the other two. They are run as one organisation on purpose: the same standards apply across all of them, and the same people move between them.
The office keeps regular hours. The helpline runs around the clock, because the situations we work in do not.
What "we are all about care" actually means
It is on our logo, so it ought to mean something specific. It means the care is the point — not the paperwork around it, not the schedule that would be tidiest for us.
In practice that shows up in small operational decisions. Who gets sent to a house and whether it is the same person next week. Whether somebody has enough time booked to do the job without rushing. Whether the answer to a question you asked is the answer, or the answer that is easiest to give.
Who you will actually deal with
Everyone we support has a named contact here who knows the situation, so you are not starting again with whoever happens to answer.
The people who do the visiting are support workers, care assistants, and nurses. Who comes to you depends on what the plan needs, and we will tell you who to expect before they arrive.

People, not cases
Everyone we support has a life already in progress. Support fits around that, not the other way round.
Continuity over convenience
Matching the right worker to the right person and keeping them there matters more than filling a slot quickly.
Plain answers
If we cannot help, we say so and point you somewhere that can. If something is going to be difficult, we say that too.
Time to do the job properly
Care work done at a run is not care work. We would rather book the time than move people through faster.
